About conference<\/h2>\n

Advances in Data Science and Operations Research is the first virtual conference for Latin America, presented by Universidad Galileo in collaboration with the Institute for Operations Research and Management Science (INFORMS).<\/p>\n

Spangler Faculty Scholar at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research interests are in the field of operations research, with a particular focus on discrete optimization with application to homeland security and emergency response problems. Dr. Albert\u2019s research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of the Army, and Sandia National Laboratory. She has authored or co-authored 69 publications in archival journals and refereed proceedings. She has been awarded many honors for her research, including the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) Fellow Award, the INFORMS Impact Prize, four publication awards, a National Science Foundation CAREER award, a Fulbright Award, and a Department of the Army Young Investigator Award.<\/p>\n

She is a Department Editor for IIE Transactions and is on or has been on six other journal Editorial Boards. Dr. Albert has served on the INFORMS Board as the Vice President for Marketing, Communication, and Outreach and served as the Assistant Dean for Graduate Affairs in the College of Engineering at UW-Madison. Dr. Torres-Carballo holds the position of vice minister of Science and Technology at the ministry of Science, Technology and Telecommunications in Costa Rica. Dr. Torres-Carballo has been project leader in many projects related to the strength of the fields of science, technology and innovation. Among all the projects, it stands out the processes for the Organization and Cooperation and the Economic Development (OCDE) with the committee for Scientific and Technology Policies, and the launch of the System for National Information of Science and Technology (SINCYT), among others.<\/p>\n

Since 1999, he has been consultant and researcher for projects from el Banco Iberoamericano de Desarrollo (BID), the International Center for Research and Development in Canada, the United Nations Organization for education, science and culture (UNESCO), the CAATEC, the foundation Omar Dengo (FOD) and many more.<\/p>\n

Dr. Torres-Carballo has 30 publications. His research interests include topics in the fields of innovation, organizational learning, knowledge management, TICs, experimental economy and company growth, among others.

In conjunction with Erick Moreno-Centeno, Adolfo received an Honorable Mention in the 2015 INFORMS Junior Faculty Interest Group paper competition as a student at Texas A&M based on his work on roundoff error-free algorithms for optimization.<\/span>

Some of his research project sponsors include the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Baylor Scott & White Health System, Adventist Health System, and the NEC Corporation. Dr. Eduardo P\u00e9rez is a member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE), the Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences (INFORMS), and the Society for Computer Simulation International (SCS).
